Hiroshima Carp unveil new road uniform
For the first time in four years, the Hiroshima Toyo Carp have redesigned their road uniform. The campaign slogan, “Carrying tradition and pride into the dawn of a bright future”, sums up the look: a mix of new and old.
The new jersey is a brighter, more radiant red. The club says it was inspired by sunlight streaming through a red curtain. Uniform maker Descente reportedly made repeated visits to a guest house with red curtains to pin down the exact shade, and made sample after sample until they got it right.

The “Hiroshima” chest logo, numbers, and names now come in the club’s navy, set off by light-blue accents. That light blue is the “tradition” part: it comes from the Carp’s road uniform in their golden era, which began with the club’s first league title in 1975. It’s the first time the Carp have paired light blue with a red jersey.
Other changes include sleeve stripes moved to the cuffs, matching cap and helmet logos, and a navy-and-red double stripe on the white pants to tie in with the home uniform.
Daichi Osera, Ryoji Kuribayashi, Tai Sasaki, Naru Katsuda and modeled the new look at the unveiling. “I want to make new history in this uniform,” said Osera. Kuribayashi admitted his first reaction was simply, “This is really good!”
