Trattoria Mario

Trattoria is a restaurant with a pleasant atmosphere that bills itself as serving Italian homestyle dishes. We have had Italian friends comment on its high level of authenticity.

Part of the local Mario chain, the prices at Trattoria are slightly higher than those at Mario Espresso, but for the extra yen you get more attentive service and the experience feels like a little more of a treat.

You can choose to sit in the main room, or in a tented inside/outside area which always makes me feel like I’m in somewhere a little different from the norm.

Pasta lunches, served 11:00-15:00, include a side salad and a piece of baguette or a drink (+¥160 to have both)as well one of a choice of pasta dishes with tomato, cream or garlic sauces and (at time of writing) range from ¥862-¥1047. Crispy base pizzas are ¥750-¥1020 (+tax) for the small size and ¥1130-¥1400 (+tax) for a large (pictured above).

The he lunch menu is usually annotated in English, and although the dinner menu is often only in Japanese, the staff are quite helpful.
