Shift in tone by Hiroshima governor Hidehiko Yuzaki on US trip

The tone of the reported remarks made by Hiroshima governor Hidehiko Yuzaki on his current US trip seems to be shifting in a more conciliatory direction that may prove more effective in persuading people overseas to be more open to Hiroshima’s message of peace.

“I would like President Obama to come,” said Mr. Yuzaki. He said all world leaders involved in policy on nuclear weapons should visit Hiroshima “to see the actual reality of what happens if they are really used.”

“I’m not asking for apologies… about Hiroshima, but I think the important thing is to have a forward-looking message. Hiroshima is a place of recovery.”
