“Murder hornet” strikes in Hiroshima Peace Museum

It was announced yesterday that a child visiting the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum was stung by a susume-bachi hornet.

The incident occurred in the museum’s main building. The child was taken to a nearby hospital and his condition is said to be stable. The offending hornet was exterminated.

The museum says that the exhibition room was treated with insecticide in December last year, but with record numbers of people visiting the museum, it has committed to increasing security patrols.
