We started GetHiroshima in 1999 as a way to get information around to residents in our international community here in Hiroshima. We had settled in Hiroshima and wanted to share all the many great places and events we discovered to others visiting and living here who may be interested.
If you are new to the area, let us assure you that Hiroshima has it all- history, culture, great food and drink, beautiful mountains to the north, and remote islands off the coast. The people here are also warm and they certainly know how to have a good time. These are the reasons we have made this city our home since the mid 90’s.
If you know of a great place, event or feature that you’d like to share with our readers, please get in touch. We review as many great places as we can, but there are so many other great places we haven’t been to yet.
The GetHiroshima tourist map was started in 2002 – Thousands visit this iconic city every 
year, but many leave without fully experiencing all it has to offer. We hope the map encourages visitors (and residents) to go beyond the major sites and linger a while. It is a great introduction, we hope people use it as a starting point to get out there, meet people, ask around and see where you find yourself!
You can pick up the GetHiroshima map from tourist offices and hotels around the city. We print around 50,000 maps each year thanks to the support of our sponsors. We are so fortunate to work with so many great, local businesses that we know are very welcoming to foreign tourists. We would love to list all of our favorite places in the city someday!
In the spring of 2014, the GetHiroshima magazine was launched. 
It is a seasonal publication put out every spring, summer, fall and winter. We hope it provides a useful resource for tourists as well as an insightful read for Hiroshima residents as well.
