It’s a beautiful warm spring day today in Hiroshima. Temperatures are supposed to get above 20°C and the forecast is all sunshine. This Chugoku Shinbun photo from yesterday afternoon, however, shows that the Yellow Sand is here. The paper reports that air quality will be at its poorest this afternoon.

Yesterday PM2.5 readings got up to about 45 micrograms per square meter, but at 11:30am today Hiroshima city center readings are at 50 micrograms per square meter. This is still well below the level of 85 micrograms per square meter which would trigger local government warnings.
