Do you know Marina Hop? To be honest with you, I’d forgotten that Marina Hop even existed. Even if you ask to local people, they’ll say “Yeah, I’ve been there before….” That’s it!! But this shopping mall MARINA HOP has been born-again since November 2012. Since then, it has started adding new shops and restaurants and more interesting services that I’d like to introduce.
The last time I visited there was maybe about 6years ago, but the big changes are the new stores and space for recreations & hobbies, such as motorcycle and car showrooms, golf shop, Hawaiian outrigger canoe rental and retail shop, table tennis, and even an area to play Futsal. They’ve got a quite variety of shops and activities available for different types of adult customers and families too.
For families, there is the indoor and outdoor amusement park ‘Marina Circus’. The ferris wheel and roller coaster, swinging big bird… and more attractions are suitable for kids from age 2. Also, if you want to go shopping with your dogs, there is a dog running space where your dogs can enjoy themselves while you are shopping or having lunch. Also. many of you may not know about it yet, but there is a
Regular Jet Boat service between Marina Hop and Miyajima. This new route to get to Miyajima (takes about 20mins). Since Marina Hop has a huge, free car park for over 1600 cars, so you can just drive down and leave your car here and catch the boat. Or you can also access Marina Hop by bus, it’s very simple because it is the last stop of Hiroden bus route No.3 from Hiroshima station or Hondori. There is also a bus route no.8 from Yokogawa station. After enjoying a day at Miyajima, avoid the crowded train back to the city and come back to Marina Hop on the 20 minute boat, then shopping maybe having dinner…

Another new and exciting feature of Marina Hop is the “Event hall”. The rentable event hall is very useful, though looks a bit pretty from outside but (never mind!) it has almost everything what you need. It has a good size of stage with perfect lighting and sound system, screen and projector, also fine air condition. The floor holds up to 500 people or more. There are chairs and tables available if you need, there is a backstage area as well. Yet their rental fee is quite reasonable for the facilities they have. You can hire the hall for live music, stage performance, party, meeting, or any kind of gathering… as you like. Just ask to the operation center (tel.082 503 5500).
There is Kagura performance- a kind of traditional Japanese sacred music & dancing, theatrical performance here. The actors dress in traditional costumes and perform on the stage here in the event hall on the last Saturday of every month. It is only 500yen at door and is a lot of fun, so don’t miss it!
