ZIPANGU – Contemporary Artists Of The Heisei Era
November 2 - December 23
Exhibition of late 20th Century Japanese art.
From the Hiroshima Museum of Art website:
The “Heisei” era (1989-2019) came to an end in 2019. Heisei emerged as the successor to the turbulent “Showa” era, which advanced technology as Japanese society internationalized and gave birth to a variety of uniquely Japanese cultures. This exhibition introduces Japanese contemporary art born during the “Heisei” era and will continue into the future of “Reiwa” era and beyond. The title “ZIPANGU” reflects our hope to convey the appeal of Japanese contemporary art to the world and to rediscover its charm in Japan as well.
