Yanai Goldfish Lantern Festival

The route from Yanai Station to the Kanaya old quarter, with its many traditional white-walled storehouses, is decorated with over 2000 red and white paper goldfish lanterns are decorated in town. There are giant goldfish lantern floats, and lantern dances.
The festival is held on August 13 every year, and you can ride a local train from Hiroshima to the festival site, which is a short walk from Yanai Station, in about 90 minutes.
