Traditional Kogei Japan Arts Crafts Exhibition

A popular and reasonably priced exhibition at Hiroshima Prefectural Art Museum which many beautiful art and craftsfare on display
In 1954 this annual exhibition “Japan Traditional Art Crafts Exhibition” was established for the development and inheritance of Japanese art crafts traditions. Since then the aim of this exhibition has been the creation of new types of works suitable to the modern lifestyle while keeping traditions and improving techniques.
At the The 69th annual edition around 280 pieces will exhibited, classified into seven categories of ceramics, textiles, urushi (lacquer) work, metalwork, woodwork and bamboo work, dolls, and other work.
Exhibited works are made by a broad spectrum of craftspeople from Living National Treasures (Holders of Important Intangible Cultural Property) to young and energetic artists who represent the Japanese art crafts world. Among these, including local artists from within Hiroshima Prefecture.

09:00-17:00 (until 19:00 on Fridays)
Admission until 30min before closing.

General Admission: ¥700
College & High School: ¥400
Junior High School and younger: Free admission
Admission for neighboring Shukkeien Garden is discounted to ¥100 for ticket holders at a time when the garden’s lovely ume plum trees are in bloom.
