Kirikushi Okangensai Festival
July 29 @ 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Free
The port town of Kirikushi on the north coast of Etajima Island holds a small, but colorful festival every year around the time of Miyajima’s Kangensai Festival.
There are stalls and stages, but the main event is the floating of small boats wrought out of straw which are set afloat on the shallow stream which flows through the town into the port and out to sea, carrying the wishes of those who made them. It’s a very picturesque scene.
Postponed until the following day in the event of bad weather.
