Ji-no-hi Matsuri

Frenetic and colorful countryside festival that involves groups of locals charging up and down a narrow street carrying huge umbrellas.
The main event starts around 3pm on May 21 and, after a break during which you can check out the food stalls, there are kagura dance performances in Kamo Shrine from 7pm. The festival continues the following day with community rice planting.
