A gem of a museum in the center of Hiroshima City. 90 paintings cover 150 years of modern European painting including works by Delacroix, Monet,  van Gogh and Picasso. Another 90 paintings chart the history of Western-style painting in Japan.

Akiko Hayashi was born in Tokyo in 1945. She graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts of Yokohama National University, after which she began working as a magazine illustrator. Her first children's book, Hajimete no Otsukai (Mii-chan's First Errand), was published in 1973. Exhibition of ukiyo-e woodblock prints to commemorate the 220th anniversary of the great master Hiroshige. This exhibition focuses on Hiroshige's 53 stages of the Tokaido series and the seasons of Edo.
