Takehara Hina Doll Festival
Beautiful antique hina doll displays in 8 locations in the Takehara Historical Preservation District. Entrance is free at four places and but the others have entry charges of ¥100-¥300. A "Hina-meguri passport" is available for ¥500 valid for all locations. Get your passport stamped at 6 locations and get a little pressie. Japanese traditional music concerts on March 1 (13:00), March 8 and March 22 (11:00 & 13:30). Download the pamphlet here.

Takehara Shokei-no-michi Candle Festival
The streets of Takehara's beautiful Edo period historic preservation district are illuminated by bamboo candles for two nights. Photos from a previous event and a write up of the event from 2009 here. The Takehara Historic Preservation District is 15 minutes walk from Takehara JR Station The candles are lit 17:00-21:00
