Love Song from Hiroshima (English Subtitles)

May 30 - June 12

Love Song From Hiroshima

The latest film by local director Hideyuki Tokigawa is currently playing at the recently opened MOVIX cinema complex in Minamoa at Hiroshima Station.

Described as “a fantasy film of love and peace for the future, from Hiroshima to the world” Love Song From Hiroshima (wakusei-rabu-songu) begins when two young students in Hiroshima, Mocchi and Ayaka, meet an quirky American tourist named John and give him a tour of their city. At the same time, a mysterious light appears in the night sky above Hiroshima, and a prominent researcher arrives to pursue the mystery. Meanwhile, a schoolboy called Yuya dreams of a girl who takes him to see the Hiroshima of old. Mysterious stories from Hiroshima’s past and present intersect and eventually become one. An old, long forgotten song for peace is heard once again.

Unusually, the film is being screened once a day with English subtitles. We always encourage people to show local cinemas that there is demand for Japanese films subtitled in English in the hope that there will be more, and, in this case you also support a local filmaker!
