Emperor’s Cup Inter Prefectural Men’s Ekiden

Teams from all 47 prefectures battle it out in this annual 48km road relay.

The out-and-back course starts and finishes at Hiroshima Peace Park, turning around near at Maezora Station just past the ferry port at Miyajima-guchi.

The start and finish is on Peace Boulevard in front of Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park where large crowds congregate to cheer on the runners. A big screen is set up inside the park (near the International Conference Center).

Stalls representing each of Japan’s 47 prefectures are set up on the grassy areas along Hiroshima Peace Boulevard near the final run into the finish in front of the Peace Memorial Museum. Serving local foods and drinks, they create a fun and festive backdrop to the race. It is also a great place for mascot spotting!
