Hiroshima Detention Center Festival

The Hiroshima Detention Center [広島拘置所::hiroshima kouchisho], near the Hakushima Streetcar Line, has a very nice mural painted on its walls and houses one of Japan’s seven execution chambers. It opens its gates once a year to the general public for a day of fun, learning and personality tests.

Several school choirs will be singing and there will be a handbell performance while visitors can dress their kids up in prison guard uniforms, join a stamp rally and sample prison bread and curry; and take one of those personality tests if you are comfortable about with supplying them with that information!
