Hiroshima Crafts Autumn Exhibition

From Sacred Objects to Everyday Luxuries
November 1–14, 2025 | Marufuku Bussan Event Space, Miyajima
This November, visitors to Miyajima have an excellent opportunity to experience Hiroshima’s living craft traditions firsthand. Two of the region’s leading artisans — lacquer artist Naoya Takayama and kumiko woodwork master Narimichi Uehata — will present “HIROSHIMA CRAFTS”, an exhibition and sale that reimagines the city’s centuries-old butsudan (Buddhist altar) craftsmanship for contemporary life.
Set within a serene Japanese space – and oasis of calm just off the chaotic Omotesando shopping street – just past the Rilakkuma Shop, the exhibition invites guests to meet the craftsmen in person, hear the stories behind their work, and purchase one-of-a-kind pieces that blend heritage with modern design.
Naoya Takayama will be present daily except November 10.
