From the Hiroshima Museum of Art website:
Paintings in modern Japanese-style (as it is called “Nihon-ga”) were developed in response to the widespread influence of Western paintings in the late 19th century. This exhibition shows some masterpieces of this genre, including paintings by YOKOYAMA Taikan, HISHIDA Shunso, and SUGIYAMA Yasushi who were active from the Meiji to the Showa period. These works are primarily from a private collection (CP Kasei Inc.) in Japan.
