Saijo Sakagura Art Festival →Connect←
March 12 - March 20
9 day art festival in Saijo’s historic sakagura sake brewing district. Each exhibit is housed in one of 7 sake breweries and is a collaboration between pairs of sculptors and musicians.
It’s a great opportunity to wander the breweries and taste some of their prize-winning brews at discounted prices as you take in the art installations.
Every year the event has taken a theme from stages of sake production: “polish” in 2013, “fermentation” in 2014, “ripen” in 2014 and “pour” in 2016. This year, the artists were tasked with coming up with something on the theme of “clear and naorai (feast)”.

The Connect event is running contiguously with another student art event, so there should be other art themed events and workshops going on in the same area at the same time.
Seems like the perfect opportunity to sip and wander.
