Raku Beer

Discover the world of Japanese craft beer with 15 taps of the finest Japan has to offer! Full food menu with great appetizers, hand-made pizzas, weekly curry specials, and more.

The craft beer scene in Japan has been enjoying a boom over the past few years and Japanese craft beer is starting to make a name for itself at home and abroad. Small batch brewers across the country produce fantastic brews that showcase local ingredients, and also pay homage to traditional brewing methods.

Raku Beer, which opened in spring 2011, describes itself as a “Japanese Craft Beer Café” and distinguishes itself from some of its more recent competitors by specializing in Japanese craft beer. They have an impressive 15 taps, serving craft beer from all over the country. And it’s located right downtown, just a few minutes walk from the PARCO department store.

They are committed to serving fresh seasonal beer, and so the selection changes from week to week depending on the batch size and season. They carry a wide variety of pilsners and stouts, IPAs, weizens, lambics, bocks, ales, and lagers, and often have hard-to-find concoctions like the Oyster Stout or Miso Lager.  If you are looking to sample a few different beers, ask about the craft beer sampler set.

Raku beer also serves food. As well pasta dishes, pizza and tapas style side dishes, the menu also offers beer-inspired dishes like Weizen Mussels, Beer-Stewed Beef, the Raku Beer Hot Dog, Stout Curry and Daisen sausages.

American beer afficionado, Karl, is usually on hand to help you choose, but, with a fully bilingual menu and staff that are well-accustomed to international customers, ordering is never a problem.

Keep an eye out for regular beer events and tap takeovers.
