Sanfrecce 2016 Uniform

This year’s Nike uniform is based on the “Super Natural Performance” design concept which supports athletic performance by basing design on a scientific breakdown of that same performance. Pretty sciency, right?

The main color of the home uniform is “Imperial Purple” which as the name suggests has royal connotations and is supposed to symbolise Sanfrecce’s high level of play. The Japanese, shikon [紫紺], made up of the characters for purple and navy blue and some supporters have commented that the club seems to be becoming less and less purple as the years go by. Not for worry though, the more representative Varsity Purple features in pinstripes on the front of the shirt and on its collar and cuffs. Venom Green stripes symbolize the team’s lightning speed. The dignity of Imperial Purple combined with the sense of speed expressed by Green Venom is a combination that produces an entirely new design that produces an expression of strength beyond space-time. It must be true as you could make this stuff up.

The club emblem, with its trademark 3 arrows, on the home shirt is a nice chunky sewn-on cloth badge and features 3 stars which represent the club’s three J League championships. The latest of these championships was, of course, last season so there’s a championship logo on the right sleeve.
