Artists, both established and aspiring, may be interested in this opportunity to show some of their work in Hiroshima Contemporary Art Museum. “Open Call for Art Project Ideas 2012” asks people to submit proposals for artworks to be exhibited in the free public spaces available in the museum.

Among the spaces available are the entrance hall, corridors, foyer, museum studio and stairwells of the Hiroshima City Museum of Contemporary Art and proposals featuring all kinds of artistic medium, including painting, sculpture, video, installation and performance art, are welcomed.

Museum curators and special juries will select about 8 works which will be exhibited September 22 – October 21, 2012. Special Jury Awards, an Oriental Hotel Hiroshima Award and an Audience Award will also be selected with results announced on August 21st, on the museum web site. All artists selected will receive ¥50,000 cash prize and extra gifts, including a complimentary single-room stay at Oriental Hotel Hiroshima the night before the exhibition opening.
