Morrissey live in Hiroshima

Former front man of one of the most influential indie bands of the 1980s, The Smiths, comes to Hiroshima on his most comprehensive tour of Japan so far. As well as 10 nights in Japan (the tour also takes in Sendai, Kawasaki, two nights in Tokyo, Fukuoka, Osaka and Nagoya) he will also be playing in South Korea for the first time
A long and very vocal advocate of animal rights, there has been fair bit of grumbling on fan sites about how Morrissey could come to Japan with its continued practice of dolphin culling, when he refused to tour Canada in protest at seal culling.

Hmmm, I wonder if the ¥8000 ticket price might have something to do with that…

Morrissey has released 9 solo albums since The Smiths disbanded in 1987. Last year a collection of some of his solo material between 1988 and 1995 The Very Best of Morrissey was released.
The Smiths were a big deal to me when I was dealing with my angst ridden teenage years, but I have never been much of a fan of his solo stuff or even been able to listen to The Smiths since that time. He is definitely a real entertainer and I have no doubt, however, he will put on a show.

If he shows up that is.

Morrissey is scheduled to play at Blue Live in Ujina on April 27 and tickets go on sale on March 4, so we have a few weeks to decide.
