Hiroshima Oktoberfest
The old baseball stadium site is being put to good use while the powers that be argue about how the space will be underused in the future. For two weeks anyway - a range of German beers and some local favorites, around 70 in all, with food and oompah bands too. Hiroshima Ramen Stadium Stage 2
The second stage of a two part event overseen by Japan's "Ramen King" Ishigami Hideyuki. 9 purveyors of the mega-popular noodle dish from around the country set up shop on the site of the old baseball stadium. All dishes are ¥750. Buy a ticket and select your stall. Pay for any toppings or extras with cash. Grand Inoko Matsuri
City center festival which melds tradition with art in Fukuromachi Park – centered on a 1.5 ton rock suspended by ropes attached to 88 bamboo trees. As the annual chrysanthemum viewing tea ceremony at Shukkei-en Garden is held on the November 3 Bunka-no-hi or "Culture Day" holiday, entrance to the garden is free. Miyajima Oyster Festival
One of Miyajima's specialities is oyster, and every year on the second weekend in February, some of the juiciest are served up at rock bottom prices. Also traditional taiko drumming performances on the Sunday.
