The plays\, which are based on Japanese myths\, legends\, and historical events\, may vary\, but the shows are always thrilling.  \nExpect demons\, multi-headed serpents\, dazzling special effects\, and lightning-fast costume changes. \nIn contrast with other forms of classical and folk theater in Japan\, Hiroshima Kagura\, with its action sequences and driving percussive rhythms\, is highly entertaining even without knowledge of Japanese. DESCRIPTION:Frenetic and colorful countryside festival that involves groups of locals charging up and down a narrow street carrying huge umbrellas. \n \nThe main event starts around 3pm on May 21 and\, after a break during which you can check out the food stalls\, there are kagura dance performances in Kamo Shrine from 7pm.
