It is itself an abstract study conducted within the framework of an exhibition. \nAmong the participating artists is Joanne Kyger\, a poet who developed her own unique style while engaging with a wide circle of people and various groups in contemporary American poetry. As with others associated with the Beats\, Kyger’s works were influenced by mediation and Buddhism\, in particular Zen. Along with a poem titled “Descartes and the Splendor of. A Real Drama of Everyday Life. In Six Parts.”\, which deals with the French philosopher René Descartes’ Discourse on the Method\, Kyger made a video work called Descartes in 1968. The only video and the only story that Kyger ever made\, the work provided the inspiration and framework for this exhibition. \nThe structure of the exhibition primarily sets out to achieve two things. First\, it attempts to reexamine the framework of the group show while at the same time exploring the possibilities of the format. Second\, it strives to create a quiet dynamism amid the distinctive qualities of the space through the unique behavior of the works\, which transcend the barriers of categories like “modern art” and “contemporary art.” The exhibition itself was conceived as an implicit manifesto. \nA Reflection on the Sublime\nMarch 30 – June 9\nGeneral admission: ¥1\,100\nCollege: ¥800\nHigh school: ¥550 \n URL:https://gethiroshima.com/event/exhibition-a-reflection-on-the-sublime/ LOCATION:HMOCA\, 1-1 Hijiyama-koen\, Minami-ku\, Hiroshima-shi\, Hiroshima-ken\, 732-0815\, Japan CATEGORIES:Art ATTACH;FMTTYPE=image/jpeg:https://gethiroshima.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/A-Reflection-on-the-Sublime.jpeg GEO:34.3845227;132.4731389 X-APPLE-STRUCTURED-LOCATION;VALUE=URI;X-ADDRESS=HMOCA 1-1 Hijiyama-koen Minami-ku Hiroshima-shi Hiroshima-ken 732-0815 Japan;X-APPLE-RADIUS=500;X-TITLE=1-1 Hijiyama-koen\, Minami-ku:geo:132.4731389,34.3845227 END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20240402 DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20240406 DTSTAMP:20240329T204623 CREATED:20240326T121721Z LAST-MODIFIED:20240326T121721Z UID:10008893-1712037600-1712296799@gethiroshima.com SUMMARY:A Piece of Ukrainian Culture for Peace DESCRIPTION:Exhibition of Motanka talisman dolls\, a tradition that has been passed down for generations in Ukraine. \nWith a deep wish for peace\, a total of 100 Motanka will be exhibited\, including those made by Ukrainian masters\, people in Japan and abroad\, and children who are now in Ukrainian shelters. \nThe aim of the exhibition is to deliver hope through Motanka\, which represent the power of love\, care\, and connection.
