Saijo Sake Matsuri
October 8 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm
An event every day that begins at 10:00am, repeating until October 9, 2022
The biggest sake festival in Hiroshima returns to the sake brewing center of Saijo in Higashi-hiroshima after a 3 year absence.
As well as events around the town and brewery openings the Sake Hiroba, an enclosed space where visitors can sample 630 different kinds of sake from all around Japan.
This year admission to the Sake Hiroba is by ticket only (advance purchase necessary) with numbers limited to 500 people at 3 designated 90-minute times lots each day.
Ticket price: ¥3,000 (includes a sake cup, tickets for 8 servings of sake, two side dishes to go with your sake and a bottle of water to take the edge off).
Times slots (October 8 and 9)
① 10:20～11:50（Entry 10:00～）
② 12:40～14:10（Entry 12:20～）
③ 15:00～16:30（Entry 14:40～）
If this all too much hassle, there should be quite a lot going on in the streets between Saijo Station and the Sake Hiroba. Most of it centers on sake (of course) and you can pop into the breweries and sample some of their products, browse the food stalls and watch parades and performances. Although alcohol is very much at the center of this event, many families do attend.
Saijo is 40 minutes east of Hiroshima on the JR Sanyo Honsen Line. One way tickets are ¥580 for adults. It’s worth buying your return ticket when you arrive as lines to buy tickets can be long in the evening.
