Miyajima Full Moon Festival CANCELLED

September 29, 2012 - October 1, 2012

After a hiatus of several years, the Full Moon Festival on Iri-hama Beach on the far side of Miyajima is back.

There will be lots of bands and live music playing, but it will be a pretty relaxed event, and you are likely to be

disappointed if you show up expecting a pill-fueled Thailand-style rave. That said, if you are up for a weekend

out of city, surrounded by people so chill they are almost horizontal, this could well be for you.

Bands so far confirmed

Organizers are looking for more bands to play and also for staff to help run the event
(contact them via their Facebook event page here).

Feel free to take along any instruments, drums, or other toys and join the party.

Iri-hama beach is a couple of kilometers beyond Tsutumigaura beach park on Miyajima along

a very narrow road that curves its way up and down along the steep sides of the island. It’s a

lovely spot, but parking and mobile phone coverage is limited, and there is unlikely to be any

fresh running water.
