Ganne Moon Beach Camping and Beach CleanUp

May 4, 2019 @ 3:00 pm - May 5, 2019 @ 3:00 pm

Free

If you want to escape the crowds and do your bit for the planet, why not head across the Seto-inland sea to Etajima island for camping under the stars and a morning beach-clean up the next day.

We will be heading over on the Ujina to Mitaka ferry on Saturday and then making the short drive over to Ganne Moon Beach for a bit of beach life, sunset and camping under the stars. Then, after breakfast on Sunday morning, we will tackle the plastic pollution problem with a “my pace” group beach clean effort from 9-11. Plastic pollution is a significant problem on many beaches around Hiroshima including this beach. So, please help us collect as much as we can to take it out of the ecosystem before it degrades further into microplastics.

Feel free to come and camp on Saturday, or just come for the beach clean and hang out on Sunday- it’s up to you!  We will plan to be there from around 3pm on Saturday until around the same time on Sunday. Facebook page event listing.

Clean-up Packing list:

gloves, plastic garbage bags, hats, sunscreen, water to drink, snacks and your own food.

Facilities are limited at the beach, so try to bring your own food and drink and plan to bring home all of your own garbage. There is space to park cars, pitch tents and cook on a bbq if you’d like.

Kids & families welcome to come and help out- Ganne Beach is a beautiful spot not far from the Mitaka Ferry port on Etajima island- it is possible to get ferries throughout the day from Ujina port.

Ganne Moon Beach is a short drive from Etjima’s Mitaka ferry to Ganne beach. You can also cycle it in about 20-30 minutes but there’s not much public transportation and it takes a while to walk.
