Sarii-chan

Affable soccer-loving okonomiyakist Sarii-chan serves up tasty okonomiyaki near the Kyobashi Bridge, not far from Hiroshima Station. Sit at the counter, or spread out at one of several tables in this spacious 2nd floor eatery.

Sarii-chan’s okonomiyaki, almost perfectly round, always looks like it has come straight out of a food magazine. Sometimes eating a whole okonomiyaki can leave you feeling overly stuffed, but here the servings seem just right for someone with a good appetite. Sarii-chan uses the okonmiyaki-sauce sparingly, which allows the flavor to really come through, and the customer can add more from the sauce pots on the counter if they wish.

Vegetarians will also be glad to know that, rather than lard, Sarii-chan uses vegetable or olive oil on his grill and he’s more than happy to accommodate vegetarians as best he can.

As well as okonimiyaki Sarii-chan also serves a number of grilled teppan dishes and seasonal specialities.
