Cucina Bianco

A part of the wonderful, high quality and service, Eventos chain of restaurants & wine shops in Hiroshima. The original,  Bistro de Eventos has always had a loyal following and this latest restaurant,  Cucina bianco,  is as high quality addition to the group.  It is a very pleasant, cozy little nook of a restaurant tucked around the corner from Parco and the Alice Garden courtyard.

Lunch sets are reasonably priced samples of what you can expect at dinner. Pasta with delicate sauces, domestically produced meats, eggs, fish and produce alongside a simply wonderful selection of wines from both within Japan and abroad. Popular meat dishes are made with “Momiji Pork” and “Hatsukaichi Kinari-tori chicken”, apparently both are locally and ethically raised in natural environments.

Eventos and Cucina Bianco both pride themself on excellent wine selections. I sampled the recommended chardonnay of the day (on the specials board as well as a sparkling wine of the day by glass or bottle), which happened to be from a winery in Yamanashi-ken. It was one of the best glasses of wine I’ve ever had.

Dinner courses start around 3,000 yen for food and dessert including a standard drink. There are special offers for groups including use of their 3rd floor party room for groups of 7 or more.
They offer two group courses for the party room priced at 5,000 yen including free drinks for 2 hours (use of the room for 3 hours). One of the plans includes cooking some of the dishes yourself and both include excellent bottles of wine you can help yourself to during the party.

The main first floor dining area is small with seating for only 15-20 people, but I felt right at home. There was a relaxing, cozy European bistro feel to the place. The name suggests a Spanish feel, but the menu is a fusion of Italian, Spanish and French style dishes, there are even some flavors which are more Japanese than anything else. No matter how you categorize the food, one word comes to mind when you taste it, delicious.
