Kure Municipal Museum of Art
This 3 storey museum located next to Irefuneyama Park houses over 800 works from Japan and overseas. Notable in the permanent collection are Renoir’s Girl with a straw hat and a version of Antoine Bourdelle’s sculpture Hercules the Archer. The red brick building with its red brick exterior and sweeping staircase in inside is quite impressive, and the small garden in front of the entrance is lovely. The leafy approach to the museum is lined with some “interesting” sculptures.

4 special exhibitions are held a year, each with their own admission prices.

Hokusai and Riviere
Hokusai and Riviere: Thirty-six Views Compared and the Hokusai Manga Printmaker Henri Riviere's Thirty-six Views of the Eiffel Tower series shown alongside its inspiration, Katsushika Hokusai’s Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji. Also on display are original copies of Hokusai’s "manga" sketches and some of the woodblocks made to produce the works. Go here for more on the great exhibition.
