Exhibition of Japanese Traditional Art Crafts
The 58th edition of this annual exhibition established for the development of Japanese art craft traditions at the Prefectural Art Museum. The 319 pieces on display include ceramics, textiles, lacquer works, metal works, wood and bamboo, dolls and "miscellaneous" created by artists who have been classed as Living National Treasures as well as younger upcoming creators. Ikuo Hirayama Retrospective
Born in Setoda-cho, Ikuo Hirayama, who died at the age of 79 in 2009, is possibly the most well known painter from Hiroshima prefecture. Known for his depictions the A-bombing which he witnessed as a student in Hiroshima, scenes from the Silk Road and Buddhist imagery, he was also an active cultural conservationist who campaigned to preserve Asia's cultural treasures. This exhibition shows 80 works dated from Hirayama's childhood to his later years.

Nanzan Shimizu: Hiroshima’s The Master of Modern Metalwork
Shimizu Nanzan was born in Mihara in Hiroshima prefecture and entered the Tokyo School of Fine Arts the year after its establishment.
