Obakepan Uncovered

Having seen the 7-11’s cute, little, chocolate-filled ghost-bread or 0bake-pan in Jade’s Halloween konbini post the other day, I couldn’t resist picking one up for my kids on the way home from work.

¥125? Pretty damn good value for a few much-needed daddy points I thought. When I got home, however, I realized how 7-11 was able to keep the price so low. When I pulled the little fellah out of the package, she or he was completely featureless.

 

 

Yes, the cute Casperesque expression and, in fact, the whole ghostly shape is part of the wrapper design.

 

Once the sheet is ripped from our little friend, the sweetbread looks more like a puffy sheep’s head or a sad-looking dag head. What do you reckon?

 

 

It is full of chocolate cream though…
