Work to start on Hakushima rail station in spring

According to the Chugoku Shinbun, this spring work is to start on a new JR rail station at that will finally link the Sanyo rail line with the Astram Line monorail.

The new station is to be named “Shin Hakushima Eki” will lie between Hakaushima and Johoku Astram Line Stations. A distinctive design featuring concrete with holes by the rather improbably named Tokyo firm Coelacanth And Associates has been selected, and it is hoped that it will be open for business by spring 2014.

UPDATE: Chugoku Shinbun reported February 8, 2012 that this project will now be completed in spring 2015, a year later than orginally announced.
