Shift in tone by Hiroshima governor Hidehiko Yuzaki on US trip

“I would like President Obama to come,” said Mr. Yuzaki. He said all world leaders involved in policy on nuclear weapons should visit Hiroshima “to see the actual reality of what happens if they are really used.”

“I’m not asking for apologies… about Hiroshima, but I think the important thing is to have a forward-looking message. Hiroshima is a place of recovery.”

“Hiroshima has been known as a place of tragedy but it is also a place of hope”

“A lot of people, especially from countries in conflict, come and see the beauty and prosperity of modern Hiroshima… and feel they can do the same.”
