Cherry blossom ’yozakura’ night viewing

The many varieties of cherry blossom in Shukkei-en Garden illuminated after dark. The garden is open until 9:00pm and admission is until 30 minutes before closing. In 2018 the cherry blossoms are illuminated from March 23 to April 8. See more photos from this beautiful event here.

Cherry Blossom Viewing at the Japan Mint

Every year, the Hiroshima branch of the Japan Mint in Itsukaichi opens up its grounds to the public to enjoy the 56 varieties of cherry blossoms while they are at full bloom. The blossoms tend of come into full bloom later than those in Hiroshima city center, so although you wont find the party atmosphere of peak hanami season (food and drink is not allowed in the grounds), it is a good place to catch the blooms if you have missed them elsewhere, or if you just want…

Chrysanthemum Tea Ceremony at Shukkei-en Garden

As the annual chrysanthemum viewing tea ceremony at Shukkei-en Garden is held on the November 3 Bunka-no-hi or "Culture Day" holiday, entrance to the garden is free.
