Redouté’s Choix des plus belles fleurs

Dutch painter and botanist, Pierre-Joseph Redouté (1759–1840) was an official court artist of Marie Antoinette and, known as “the Raphael of flowers”, has been called the greatest botanical illustrator of all time. His print series “Choix des plus belles fleurs” (Selection of the Most Beautiful Flowers), created for flower enthusiasts, is comprised of colorful flowers, gorgeous bouquets, and fresh fruits. This two-part exhibition introduces the beautiful world of flowers from “Choix des plus belles fleurs” with a total of 144 works including autographed prints and other documents.
