“With a history that corresponds with the flow of Japanese modern art history, the Kyoto Municipal Museum of Art has, since its opening in 1933, amassed a collection of works that reflect the unique character and development of Kyoto’s tradition-rich art world. This exhibit introduces transitions in the portrayal of the female form from the Meiji Period through the Showa Period through displays of around 80 carefully selected works from the collection of the Kyoto Municipal Museum of Art, including Shoen Uemura’s The Flowers of Life, Bakusen Tsuchida’s Korean Bench, Seison Maeda’s Looking at Pictures and Keigetsu Kikuchi’s Taking a Stroll.”

Opening hours: 09:00-17:00 (until 19:00 on Fridays)
