Kendama World Cup

Japanese kids toy, the kendama, has been enjoying something of a boom in popularity in recent years and Hatsukaichi city, which claims to be its birthplace, is working hard to promote it. Part of that effort is the annual Kandama World Cup.
Two days of Kendama heaven with stalls, performances, workshops and competitors from around the world aiming to become kendama world champions.
This year’s event also includes a world record attempt. On July 23 at 15:30 they will attempt to beat the Guinness World Record for the most people performing a tomeken trick (catching the kandama ball on the spike). The current world record is 568 people. Anyone taking part in the world up can take part for free. Other participants will be charged an entry fee of ¥1000 which includes commemorative goods.
