Ikuo Hirayama Retrospective

Born in Setoda-cho, Ikuo Hirayama, who died at the age of 79 in 2009, is possibly the most well known painter from Hiroshima prefecture.
Known for his depictions the A-bombing which he witnessed as a student in Hiroshima, scenes from the Silk Road and Buddhist imagery, he was also an active cultural conservationist who campaigned to preserve Asia’s cultural treasures.
This exhibition shows 80 works dated from Hirayama’s childhood to his later years.
